Six Special Education (SPED) teachers and three SPED schools were presented the MOE – SG Enable awards in recognition of their contributions to the education of students with moderate-to-severe special educational needs (SEN) at this year’s SPED Learning Festival.
2. Previously administered by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and National Council of Social Service (NCSS), the Outstanding SPED Teacher Award (OSTA) and Innovation Award (IA) are now jointly awarded by MOE and SG Enable .The MOE – SG Enable Promising SPED Teacher Award (PSTA) was also introduced at this year’s ceremony. The PSTA is for teachers who have three to five years of teaching experience while the OSTA is reserved for teachers with at least six years of teaching experience. All three awards will be presented every two years.
3. Three SPED teachers received the OSTA for their passion, dedication and commitment in providing a well-rounded education for students with SEN. They were selected from a total of 92 nominees:
4. Three SPED teachers received the PSTA. The award recognises the achievements and contributions of exemplary SPED teachers with the potential to be inspiring leaders and/or mentors. They were selected from a total of 51 nominees:
5. Three SPED schools with four projects received the IA. The award recognizes the SPED schools for outstanding innovations in teaching and learning to achieve the desired outcomes of living, learning and working for their students. These projects were selected out of a total of 18 projects from 10 SPED schools. The awardees are:
