NMOS, known as the National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore, represents a collaborative effort between NUS High School and the Singapore Mathematical Society. As an initiative led by NUS High School, this prestigious competition seeks to promote and enhance the mathematical prowess of students across the nation. By partnering with the Singapore Mathematical Society, NMOS aims to foster a platform for young minds to showcase their problem-solving skills and ingenuity in the field of mathematics.

NMOS aims to generate greater interest in Mathematics among Primary school students by cultivating enthusiasm and instilling a love for the subject. The organization provides an avenue for students to challenge themselves and stretch their mathematical potential, aiming to nurture the mathematical talents of young individuals.
Who is it for?
The NMOS competition is for primary school students ranging from grades 1-5.
How can you participate?
To participate, all students must be registered through their respective schools, and the selection of participants is at the discretion of the schools. Individual registrations are not allowed for this competition.
Categories
NMOS does not have separate categories; instead, all participants compete in the Preliminary Round. This round consists of a one-and-a-half-hour written paper. The highest scorers from the Preliminary Round will receive invitations to take part in the Special Round, which also involves a written paper. The names of the successful qualifiers will be communicated to their respective schools.

Syllabus/ Subject Matter Focus
The competition allows participants to explore various mathematical topics. They can access past Special Round solutions on the competition’s website or purchase the NMOS Five-Year Series book, covering 2016 to 2021, including the 2021 and 2022 editions, for better preparation and improved math skills.

Students should register themselves via their respective schools.
The period of registration is from 30th March 2023 to 21st April 2023.
The Preliminary Round is held on 28th June 2023.
The special round of the NMOS competition is held on 25 July 2023.
Prize and Award Recognition
Each participant will receive a certificate commending their performance and recognizing their level of achievement in the competition. In addition to the certificates, the top 30 participants will be awarded medals and cash prizes as further recognition for their outstanding performance during the event.
