The Australian Math Competition (AMC) is organized by the Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities among students. The AMC, a highly esteemed competition, caters to students from primary to senior secondary levels, assessing their mathematical proficiency and critical thinking across various topics. With its challenging nature and national significance, the AMC serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their mathematical prowess and potentially participate in international mathematical competitions, representing Australia on a global scale.
Objective: Australian Math Competition
The main goal of the AMC is to make math accessible to students in Years 3 to 12, including those who may not be exceptionally skilled in mathematics. The emphasis is on problem-solving, and the questions are crafted to identify and nurture talent that might not be apparent in typical assessments. Additionally, the AMC aims to make the experience enjoyable for students. The AMC questions are designed to evaluate mathematical thinking rather than just calculation skills, so they can be answered quickly, whether or not a calculator is used.
Who is it for?
The Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) is designed to engage students in the middle primary years, upper primary years, junior years, intermediate years, and senior years.
How can you participate?
Students from different schools can join, but they have to sign up through their own school. No one can sign up individually to keep things fair for everyone.
