4.Hanyu Pinyin
from
kindergarten 2 to Primary 1.
Unlike English, Mandarin is
a tonal not a phonetic language. Many
Chinese characters might share the same sound but we use different tones to
differentiate them.
Hanyu Pinyin forms a
critical part of the Chinese learning journey. It not only helps students to
master strong pronunciation skills, it also allows them to enhance their
reading and writing skills.
At Yang, we believe in fun
learning and our teachers have developed a systematic yet interesting way to
learn Hanyu Pinyin.
Our
Hanyu Pinyin programme is designed to:
• Provides your child with
a strong foundation in Hanyu Pinyin
• Reinforce his/her Hanyu
Pinyin fundamentals
• Allow your child to gain
practice in word blends, tones and reading
• And most importantly, give
your child a head start into the Primary 1 Hanyu Pinyin syllabus
The programme makes use of
corresponding pictures of words (Flashcards) to help the children associate and
understand the meaning of Chinese words together with their Hanyu Pinyin. It
also incorporates specially designed oral practices and interactive games to
reinforce your child’s understanding.

This programme is
specifically designed to give your child a head start in speaking/writing
Proper Mandarin. Students will learn to recognize basic sentence structure and
acquire the necessary skills to converse and write in complete sentences.
Basic Chinese grammar will
be introduced and students will be taught the correct word order. Through
different permutations and repetitions, we aim to equip students with the
ability to speak and write in proper sentence structures. Thereafter, they will
advance to learn to mix-and-match sentences and as a result enhance their language
expression in Mandarin.

6.Show & Tell for Kindergarten 2
These days, children are
under tremendous pressure to do well academically, hence most of them tend to
do much better in listening, reading and writing rather than speaking. However,
regardless of how well your academic results are, the ability to express
yourself confidently and clearly is a basic life skill that will enable your child
to succeed better in life.
Most children tend to be more
open and easier going at a younger age and this is the best time to encourage
them to speak up in front of a group of people (students) and in allowing them
to express themselves freely instead of sitting in classrooms and only be on
the receiving end.
Our
Show & Tell Programme for K2 is designed to
• Enhance your oral skills
(Pronunciation, Projection of voice)
• Improve
self-esteem/self-confidence (Posture, Eye Contact)
• Develop social skills
(Mingle with children in the class)
• Encourages fun learning!
The programme allows
students to talk about various pre-determined topics from narrating a recent
incident to a photograph, an art piece that they made, a book from the school
library and can even be a surprise item from the teacher! All with an objective
of making learning Chinese Fun!

7.Oral & Communications programmes
from
Primary 1 to Primary 6.
Effective communication is
a crucial element of success in our lives. Having the proper oral and communication
skills allow you to interact better and express yourself more clearly.
In a world where digital
technology is the trend, people are relying more on mobile phones and tablets
and communicating through text messages, emails etc. Hence, we need to instill
the importance of face to face communication and how it will help to enhance our
interpersonal relationships.
Our Oral and Communication
programme is designed to first stimulate our students’ interest to speak in
Mandarin, to guide them to speak in proper sentence format and hence acquire
the confidence in speaking and expressing their views/opinions in Mandarin.
The
programme focuses on 4 key aspects of effective communication:
1. Pronunciation
2. Tone and speed of
reading as well as proper sentence structure
3. Understanding the
passage/picture/video and focusing on the key points
4. Expression own opinions
in a clear and concise manner
We hope that through our
Oral and Communication programme, students will be able to articulate better in
Mandarin in their daily lives and also able to impress the teachers in their
Chinese oral exams in schools!

8.Creative Writing programmes
from
Primary 2 to Primary 6.
Creative Writing forms an
essential part of effective communication. It complements our Oral and
Communication course. Why is Creative Writing so important? It can range from
writing to apply for an ivy league university to writing your resume or cover
letter to writing a proposal or idea at work. Being able to write to impress is
a skill that can be acquired with the right guidance and training.
The
key aspects that we focus on under the Creative Writing programme include:
1. Intensive reading of
various passages including newspapers, magazine articles and storybooks. The
more you read, the more you learn.
2. Identify the key points
in the passage and ask relevant questions. Encourage your kid to be
inquisitive. The more you ask, the more you know.
3. Use of descriptive
words, beautiful idioms and powerful phrases. In Chinese we call it 好词好句。
4. Plan the structure of
the story. Use of picture cards or drawings to identify the format or sequence
of story.
Through our Creative
Writing programme, we hope that students will able to excel in their Chinese
comprehensions and compositions too in school!
