Raffles Gymnastics Academy

In these classes the fundamentals of gymnastics will be taught on all four of the girl’s events and all six of the boy’s events including:

Balance Beam
Floor Exercise

Pommel Horse

Parallel Bars
Horizontal Bar
IN ADDITION:
Trampoline and Tumble Trampoline
Strength and Conditioning
Floor and Beam dance/ ballet combinations
Each class begins with a general warm-up, conditioning and flexibility training. During the class the children will work on three to four pieces of equipment. Emphasis will be placed on learning new skills/routines for the Developmental Program as well as reinforcing good basic fundamentals. Strong emphasis is placed on body position and awareness and of course safety is heavily emphasized.

For those between 24-36 months
Recommended for boys and girls ages 2-3 years. Your child will playfully learn gymnastics, gross motor skills, and basic sports skills in a safe, fun, and age-appropriate class that blends physical, cognitive and daily living skills. Children begin to learn: independence, how to follow directions, gymnastics terminology, basic gymnastics positions, and fundamental skills in our Edu-Gym as well as the Gymnastics Gym.

For those between 3-5 years
Recommended for boys and girls ages 3-5 years. Your child will learn in a fun and exciting environment the wonders of movement and gymnastics. Gross motor skills, flexibility, spatial awareness and basic gymnastics skills will be taught in this class. Children in this program will learn on all the apparatus as well as the trampoline and the tumble trampoline.

Super Kidz and Developmental team members are usually spotted and promoted from their regular classes. These girls and boys tend to stand out for reasons such as focus, strength, flexibility, physical coordination and the desire to compete in gymnastics one day. Super Kidz classes meet 2 or 3 times a week for 2-3 hrs each day and Developmental Team classes meet 2-3 times a week for 3 hours per class. Proper etiquette, body conditioning, shaping and flexibility continue to be the focus. Attention is paid to the Australian and Singapore Levels and Stages System that will prepare the children to enter our competitive program.

Comprising the Little Team (aged 8 and above), Elite Team and International Team, our High-Performance Programmes focus on preparing the gymnast for competing both in the local and international arena. Emphases are placed on the perfection of foundation skills and techniques, and the continued development of both physical and mental strength. With the longevity of our gymnasts’ competitive careers in mind, the move to focusing on the mastery of higher-level skills comes only when coaches are satisfied of each gymnast’s physical and mental readiness.
