FAQ
1.Baby Swimming Lessons
– for babies and infants between 6 to 42
months young –
Baby swimming lessons equip your newborn
with a critical life-preserving skill, and it is also a fun and enthralling
time for you and your family. This is especially true for first-time parents,
as swimming with your baby is truly an amazing and valuable time for bonding,
and it is probably the most memorable and thrilling activity you can do with
your baby during that short, tender age.
According to research conducted by
Griffith University Australia, infants and babies who are involved in swimming
during these formative years are more advanced in their cognitive and physical
developments compared to their non-swimming peers. Additionally, the same
research also revealed improvements to social skills and language development.
Little Swim School conducts baby swimming
lessons for infants between 6 to 42 months young. Yes, you heard that right;
infants are ready for the water from as little as 6 months young!
BENEFITS OF
BABY SWIMMING LESSONS
A GIFT FOR LIFE
Equipping your baby / infant with the
skills needed for water survival is probably the greatest gift you can give to
him / her that lasts a lifetime. This is in line with our vision of
"Enabling Water-Safe Kids".
A TIME TO BOND
Swimming with your newborn is also a
fantastic time to bond. The constant holding, guiding, leading and verbal cues
between you and your child present a precious opportunity for fostering
stronger bonds.
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
Free from the restrictions of gravity by
being in a completely weightless environment, your baby will get to use muscles
that he/she will not otherwise use on land.
COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
Being in a company of two or more people
enables your baby to develop the full spectrum of their cognitive abilities,
such as information processing, social awareness, and perceptual skills.
WHAT WILL MY BABY LEARN?
WATER ACQUAINTANCE
Being in a new environment such as water,
your baby will learn to be acquainted and acclimatized with being in it, as
well as its nature and characteristics.
FREE FLOATATION
The weightless nature of being in the
water aids your baby to learn how to stay afloat independently with minimal
aids or external support.
BREATH CONTROL
Your baby will learn how to control his /
her breath, when to breathe, when not breathe, as well as breathe recovery with
the appropriate verbal and kinesthetic cues.
WATER SUBMERSION
You baby will learn to be comfortable in
the water, from quick, partial water submersions to momentary full submersions,
along with the appropriate breath control techniques.
PROPELLING FORCE
Infants will learn how to generate
propelling force with simple hand paddling and leg kicking techniques.
WATER AUTONOMY
Your baby will learn how to glide between
two short distances, and pull themselves up for air with support.

2.Toddler Swimming Lessons
– for toddlers and preschoolers between 4
to 6 years young –
PROVIDE A STRONG
SWIMMING FOUNDATION FOR YOUR TODDLER!
Compared to infants, toddlers and preschoolers
have more developed motor skills, muscular development, and mental capacities.
While there are many approaches and
schools of thought for teaching toddlers and preschoolers, Little Swim School
strictly adopts a child-centered approach for toddler swimming lessons. Based
on our years of experience, a progressive, child-centered approach that paces
with your toddler's learning abilities yields the best results.
Taking into consideration the toddler's
relatively short attention span, our swimming curriculum for toddlers are
geared towards them learning in a fun, safe, positive and immersive
environment. Thirty minutes is the sweet spot that strikes the balance between
learning to swim and their attention span.
Little Swim School offers both individual
1-to-1 toddler swimming lessons for undivided attention, or group lessons for
parents who want their toddlers to learn swimming in a collective and social
setting.

Swimming is a personal lifelong skill
that will never be robbed, lost or forgotten. It also provides the basic
foundation for your toddler’s future personal development in various aspects of
life.
HEAD-START FROM YOUNG
Research studies conducted by independent
institutes indicate toddlers who learn swimming reach developmental milestones
much earlier, regardless of socio-economic background.
BUILD A SOLID FOUNDATION
Many of the skills that are acquired
during swimming lessons transition smoothly into structured learning contexts,
such as pre-school and formal education.
HOLISTIC, MULTI-SENSORY LEARNING
Swimming is a holistic activity that
awakens all senses, where toddlers get to fully exercise their physical,
mental, and cognitive abilities in an environment that’s immersive and fun.
WHAT WILL MY
TODDLER LEARN?

with the characteristics of water. For toddlers who have an inherent fear of
water, our swim coaches are trained and experienced to eradicate the fear, and
progressively ease your toddler into the water at their pace.
ROTATION AND FLOATATION
Your toddler will learn how to rotate
his/her body, come up to the air, and breathe in a relaxed, floating position.
BREATH CONTROL
Besides learning when, and when not, to
breathe, toddlers will be taught on how to hold their breath underwater, and
how to come up for air.
WATER SUBMERSION
Toddlers will learn to be comfortable
with quick water submersions coupled with adequate breathing and breath
control.
PROPULSION EFFICIENCY
Your toddler will learn how to generate

3.Kids Swimming Lessons
– for kids aged 7 years young and up –
As children and kids grow up, they'll get
more active, experience more things, and travel to other places; getting near
or into the swimming pool or the open beach being examples. Besides equipping
your kid / child with the critical skill of water survival, learning to swim is
a fun activity that leads to the cultivation of a healthier lifestyle with long
term benefits.
In fact, swimming is considered an
essential life skill, so much so that it has been incorporated into the
national education curriculum. Little Swim School adheres strictly to the
SwimSafer syllabus – the national water safety program initiated by the
National Water Safety Council in collaboration with the Singapore Sports Council.
Being a certified SwimSafer trainer who
trains aspiring swim coaches for certification, Coach Garett is abreast with
the latest developments in the SwimSafer curriculum, and will be able to impart
practical and current knowledge to his trainers and students alike.
BENEFITS OF KIDS
SWIMMING LESSONS
REDUCE THE RISK OF DROWNING
As your child gets older, he/she will
invariably get more active and be exposed to more environments, such as a beach
outing with friends. Swimming is a critical life skill that drastically reduces
the risk of drowning and water-related accidents.
BUILDS FULL BODY STRENGTH
Especially important during the still-formative
years, regular swimming is an activity that really exercises the full body,
builds core muscle strength, and will invariably leads to a more healthy
lifestyle.
BETTER ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
Studies have shown that children who swim
regularly generally attain higher grades in school, perhaps correlated to the
increased oxygen intake to the brain and other parts of the body. Although this
is not the objective of learning how to swim, it is certainly a by-benefit no
parent will object.
INDIVIDUAL & COLLECTIVE EXCELLENCE
Children who swim regularly generally
excel in both individual and team environment. This is one aspect of swimming
that is truly unique. Furthermore, swimming in groups also improves social and
interpersonal skills; a trait that will be invaluable for the coming years
ahead.
