Phonics is one method of teaching children how to read and write.
It’s all about sounds. There are 44 sounds in the English language, which we put together to form words.
Some are represented by one letter, like ‘t’, and some by two or more, like ‘ck’ in duck and ‘air’ in chair.
Children are taught the sounds first, then how to match them to letters, and finally how to use the letter sounds for reading and spelling.
Synthetic phonics refers to ‘synthesizing’, or blending, the sounds to read words. It’s based on the idea that children should sound out unknown words and not rely on their context.
Beginner
LearningMAX 's phonics curriculum is based on the Letterland Phonics Program. Letterland Phonics is a unique, phonics-based approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling to children ages 3 to 8.
The Letterland characters transform plain black letter shapes into child-friendly pictograms and they all live in an imaginary place called Letterland.

The classes are designed to help preschool children transit to primary school life, build up their basic skills such as spelling and reading, and clarify their doubts on the concepts covered in Primary 1.

Studies have shown that the transition from an informal learning environment in kindergarten to a more structured classroom teaching in Primary 1 may come as a culture shock for most children. As such, the better-prepared children on what to expect, the better they will be able to cope.
We rely on learning tools such as flash cards and incorporates music and videos into its preparatory classes. We also teach concepts using everyday objects, which are easier for the children to relate to. For instance, our teachers may use an ice cream cone to help the children learn and identify shapes from different perspectives.

Our Primary Mathematics programme follows two key features. We use visuals to represent mathematical quantities and their relationships instead of words so students can grasp the structure of a word problem and the abstract concepts in a concrete way. We highlight the application of mathematical concepts and skills to develop processing skills such as reasoning and communicating, raising meta-cognition in problem solving, and nurturing a positive attitude towards learning mathematics.
People learn Mathematics faster and easier when they physically touch real objects, then see pictures before going through symbols. This brings fun and instill a sustained passion and appreciation for Mathematics in our students. We believe that all children are capable of anything, depending on how it is presented to them and the effort which they put into learning it.
Our programme aims to move away from simple memorizing of formulae and solutions and to focus instead on teaching students how to problem solve so they can be efficient problem solvers of mathematical problems to ace their examinations in school and PSLE as well as to tackle their everyday life effectively.
We give confidence to our students by ensuring that our students have a strong grasp of the core concepts. Our students are trained to apply the basic concepts through the usage of critical thinking skills, in-depth analysis and logical reasoning skills. In the battlefield of our Primary Creative Writer’s classes, this adage definitely holds sway.  Here, the harmless and unobtrusive-looking pen is the ultimate symbol of one’s writing prowess and is definitely mightier than a sword!
Our Primary Creative Writer’s programme is a specialized weekly writing course for budding young writers to hone their writing skills. Focusing on creative vocabulary, application of creative writing techniques and dissection/analysis of model paragraphs/compositions, this programme will transform students into profi­cient writers who are able to express their creativity and linguistic skills in captivating ways.
Not only will students in our Creative Writer’s classes be able to maximize their chances of doing well and scoring A or A+ in their composition / situational writing examinations (GEP/ Mainstream) and the PSLE, enthusiastic learners will also develop an appreciation for the written word.

The Secondary English Programme (Express) aims to help students in using English Effectively to communicate with others and to excel in the English examination.
In learning this course, students will be able to speak fluently and coherently to others. In writing, students will be able to think critically about important issues and write expositorily and persuasively. Students are also able to expand their vocabulary bank, master important comprehension techniques on how to answer some questions in certain ways. They are also taught how to reorganise and write good summaries.
With all the reading and writing skill taught by our tutors, students will be able to do well in their English examination.

The overarching goal of the Elementary Mathematics curriculum is to ensure that all students will achieve basic mastery of the fundamentals that will support learning in the higher studies in Additional Mathematics and other subjects, in particular, the sciences.
Our Elementary Mathematics (‘O’ Level) curriculum aims to develop thinking, reasoning and metacognitive skills through a mathematical approach to problem-solving and inculcate in our students’ minds the appreciation of the abstract nature and power of mathematics.
