Did you know that the oldest Chinese instrument (Xun) dates all the way back to 7,000 years ago?However the modern day Chinese Orchestra was only first developed out of Jiangnan sizhu ensemble in the 1920s into a form that is loosely based on the structure and principles of a Western Symphony Orchestra but using Chinese instruments.

Music TheoryMusic theory is a vital component for any musicians’ musical pathways and career. A good foundation in music theory allows the musician to understand the structure and meaning of the musical language, which helps in composition writing. The musicians will better be able to analyse and write music in their own style. For those interested in Jazz music, music theory allows one to transcribe solos.Music theory allows one to speak, read and write the language of music. With Eight Tones Music School music theory programme, we will prepare you for ABRSM theory exam. You will study concepts and structures within musical works.Music Academic TuitionMusic at an academic level can be demanding, taxing, and challenging. With high standards to meet, it is not easy to satisfy the demands of the Singapore Music Elective Programme (MEP), which requires the student to have detailed knowledge in various areas spanning across music theory, music history, music analysis, aural musicianship, and composition. To meet these rigorous demands, our highly-qualified teachers will be able to help with theory, ear-training, remediation of general musical knowledge, as well as training in music writing and music research skills. The music papers we provide are current and up to date, in accordance with the MEP syllabus provided by MOE. This extends to IB Music as well. IB students need not worry as our IB music lessons will be conducted by our skillful teachers.Aural SkillsMusicians rely on their ears and hearing to connect the notes, intervals, cords, melodies and scales.
