What’s the difference
between Chinese Enrichment and Chinese Tuition? Tuition basically works on
strengthening your child’s ability to perform academically based on current
school syllabus. Enrichment on the other hand, approaches learning on a wider
basis - the focus is on expansion beyond the school curriculum. When it comes
to language learning, there’s really no limit to how much a child can absorb -
the key is in offering the appropriate exposure and the right environment for
immersion.
Our Chinese Enrichment
programme works on using stories as foundation for teaching – whatever is
covered in schools’ textbooks will be expanded in our curriculum planning
through creative approaches. We all agree that rote learning is a thing of the
past. To engage a child in effective learning, FUN is the big word – a child
must be able to behave like a child with no boundaries on imagination!
Rest assured that our
lessons do not feel like “having just another session in the school”. The child
gets to be in touch with his/her innate enthusiasm and individual creativity
will be encouraged and prized upon, allowing the child to feel empowered with
learner autonomy and at the same time, engaged in the process of
self-discovery.

This programme aims to
provide the K2 students effective learning beyond their regular school lessons.
To supplement the current school curriculum, we focus on the use of nouns,
adjectives, verbs, word grouping and character formation through interactive
play and fun learning activities. Lesson materials are also customized
according to each child’s proficiency.
The children will learn
through a structured and progressive approach to solidify their foundation in
the Chinese language. What’s more, our multi-faceted pedagogy approach ensures

Programme That Enhances Chinese Language Immersion
Research has shown that the
ideal language-learning window is during the first few years of life as this is
the most rapid period of brain development. If your child is 2 to 3 years of
age, fluent with the English language but speaks little Mandarin and/or resistant
towards the Chinese language as a whole, seize this opportunity to immerse your
little one in our PlayGroup programme that encourages engagement and
interaction with the world using the Chinese language!
Our thematic curriculum
aims to facilitate a “good language modelling” through contextual exposure to
daily living and the Chinese culture & traditions, alongside with the
emphasis on a child’s cognitive, social, literacy, numeracy, language as well
as their over-all motor skills development. Our aim is to provide a fun-filled

Apple Pie Language Chinese Theatre
Programme and Drama for the Young are fun and interactive courses that focus on
improving Chinese oracy skills and boost self-confidence in children. The learning
objective is aimed at nurturing and inspiring children to develop a life-long
love and appreciation for the Chinese language through drama techniques, speech
training and stage performance.
When communicative skills
are honed, self-expression becomes creative and point-on. These abilities are
imparted through:
• Speech articulation
• Language games
• Poetry / rhymes recital
• Role Play
• Nursery Songs
• Storytelling
• Tongue Twisters
Self-esteem and confidence
are bolstered through:

By immersing children’s
imagination into the magical world of story-telling, we set a platform to
entice the little minds to explore the Chinese language in which the stories
are vividly told in. Through listening and following the storylines,
‘incidental learning’ takes place - the sound of spoken Mandarin, the shape of
the Chinese characters and the way Chinese sentences are structured will slowly
but surely be drip-fed into the children’s developing language system. In time,
you will witness your child’s increased keenness and confidence in the usage of
the Chinese language on many levels.

7.P1/P2 Chinese Speech & Drama

Right from the start of
formal learning at Primary 1, children are required to present themselves
through “Show & Tell”. And the “Creative Writing” component has always
carried weighted marks as paper 1 of the language papers. Even oral exams
expect the child to process quickly on the spot what a picture tells, and what
the possible consequences and repercussions can result in beyond what is
pictured, expressing through their own words formulated through their
imagination and logical thinking. All these thought processes will become
second-nature to them if they have been given lots of opportunities to allow
new ways of thinking and trying out new ideas on problem-solving.
Therefore, it is
fascinating to use role-playing and make-believe play as a medium to act out
fictitious roles and life situations to stimulate children to live through the
emotions, reflect and practise being an independent thinker. This creative way
of teaching is both an art form as well as an education and thus the term –
“Drama in Education”.
Our Chinese Speech &
Drama programme is a holistic approach that uses “Drama in Education” as its
backbone. We employ theatre techniques to initiate and enhance the learning
process of children. Its pedagogical philosophies underscore the development of
intra-personal and inter-personal skills, empathy for others, self-regulation
on emotional management, personal and social values, aesthetics,
self-confidence and many other intangible insights that fosters emotional and
mental growth in children. These will be honed through Speech Articulation,
Language Games, Show & Tell, Poetry & Rhymes Recitation, Role Play,
Tongue Twisters, Story-Telling, Dramatization, Mime & Movement and last but
not least, Stage Performance.
